We are currently seeking a skilled Senior Professional Engineer to join our dynamic team.

Position Overview:

As a licensed Professional Engineer at DMSE, you will be responsible for managing the design and execution of civil infrastructure and land development projets. This leadership-focused role involves overseeing a team of junior engineers and EITs, guiding them through all phases of the project, from conceptual design through construction support. You will direct the technical work, monitor progress, and ensure quality and regulatory compliance, while serving as a key point of contact for clients, contractors, and municipal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Design Leadership

  • Lead the design process for civil projects including site grading, stormwater management, water and wastewater servicing, and roadways.

  • Direct a team of junior engineers, EITs, and CAD technicians, assigning tasks, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring project milestones are met.

  • Oversee preparation of detailed engineering drawings, design reports, and technical specifications in accordance with municipal and provincial standards.

  • Perform high-level engineering calculations and provide quality control to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Project & Client Management

  • Coordinate directly with clients, developers, municipalities, and consultants throughout project life cycles.

  • Lead or participate in client meetings, public consultations, and technical reviews.

  • Prepare cost estimates, scopes of work, and project proposals.

  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful completion.

Field Coordination & Construction Support

  • Provide guidance and direction to field inspectors and site personnel during the construction phase.

  • Review inspection reports, address design-related questions from the field, and issue necessary clarifications or change directives.

  • Ensure that site work aligns with engineering intent and that any field modifications are reviewed and approved.

Regulatory Compliance & Reporting

  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and municipal authorities to support the permitting and approvals process

  • Prepare and submit engineering packages for subdivision, development, and construction agreements.

  • Ensure all project documentation is maintained in accordance with provincial engineering practices.

Mentorship & Team Development

  • Foster the growth and development of junior staff by providing technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.

  • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across departments, including survey, CAD, and planning.

  • Contribute to process improvements and knowledge sharing within the engineering department.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution

Certifications

  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in New Brunswick and in good standing with APEGNB

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, ideally including land development and municipal infrastructure

  • Demonstrated success in leading project teamsna dn delivering multi-disciplinary engineering projects

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, stormwater modeling software (HydroCAD), and design documentation.

  • Experience coordinating with regulatory bodies, municipal stakeholders, and client groups

Leadership Roles

  • Proven ability to manage and mentor junior engineers and technical staff

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines

Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering design and local regulatory processes

  • Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities

  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to build rapport with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies
